My thoughts…
I can say right off that I wasn’t in love with this book. There was no connection for me with text. The cover is what drew me to it because it was different than the rest of the new books and that intrigued me. I had seen it mentioned on my Instagram feed and knew I wanted to check it out if I ran across it. I did enjoy the book’s overall message that tomorrow brings endless possibilities and I think kids will like that too.
Smith’s illustrations put me in the mind of a retro style that I’d seen growing up. Not a fan of that in 2019. The size of the text is easy for a new reader to see and use finger tracking. The color palette of the main character rendered his presence less significant than the other images on the page. The overall imagery was too abstract for me but I know there are those who would really appreciate that. This won’t make my favs list but it is a solid bedtime read.
