Synopsis: The song “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” composed in the late 1960s, continues to reside in the dark corridors and spooky cemetery of the Haunted Mansion. Millions of guests leave the mansion with not only a hitchhiking ghost but also this jaunty tune catching a ride all the way home.

In this hardcover jacketed picture book, James Gilleard’s shadowy, textured illustrations accompany the lyrics of the classic song, and together they take readers on a guided tour deeper and deeper into the mansion, from the portrait gallery and seance room to the grand hall, the creepy attic, and more.

This charming picture book includes a CD featuring the song “Grim Grinning Ghosts.”

My thoughts…

It looks like I’m really striking out on books lately. I didn’t like the book. The flow was off and it just didn’t make alot of sense to me. It appears that there is a music CD that comes with it. However, the library copy didn’t and that may not have been to the detriment of the book.

Gilleard’s illustrations were quite ghostly and and appropriate. The cover illustration has a silvery blue tint to it depending on the way you tilt it. I did get the Disney quality from the illustrations and they livened up each page. That is the one thing that I loved. I had high hopes for this one–better luck on the next one.

My rating…
